Song of the Week - 'golden' - Pell ft. VÉRITÉ
The latest Song of the Week 'golden' comes to you from Pell, with an assist from VÉRITÉ! For those who read SA, you know how steady, skilled, and appreciated VÉRITÉ's skills are here. Pell is the lead on this one, and as you go through the song, that is very apparent, although Kelsey's vocals add a nice contrast near the end of the track. Pell's skills have increased greatly in terms of production over the past year as he's started to include himself more in the process, as well as learning instruments himself.
This single features a production unlike anything heard from Pell before, and even VÉRITÉ for that matter. The song utilizes a dreamy, hazy accompaniment of strings plucking their way through the 4 minute song. It isn't a Pell track though without some heavy bass, and this one for sure utilizes that, and at times you may even forget this is a hip-hop artist performing - granted, he still raps, but you know what I mean. The chorus shows a growth and move towards a new part of his career that his fans will appreciate as he sings: "I'm not without flaws, but I'm learning to change / Was taught to hold on but know nothing's the same / I travel the world, and when I wake up each day, it's golden to me."
Don't miss out on Pell's debut EP on his new partnership with PayDay Records, girasoul, which comes out this Friday on your favorite streaming platform! His single 'chirpin' is also a jam, which you should dive into prior to the release of girasoul Friday.
Sonically Awkward is going through some renovations under the hood, and a secret project marking the 1-year mark on SA in February is in the works. Stay tuned for this exciting project, coming soon. Still to come in the next couple days on SA - Mikey Mike Gallery, New Music Friday, and much more! Make sure to check out SA's Song of the Week Playlist on Apple Music with this link here!
