Song of the Week - 'Here 4 U' - Alison Wonderland x BLESSUS

After having just a background knowledge of electronic/pop/edm/house producer Alison Wonderland 3 weeks ago, I was thrust head-first into a whole new world she created with her latest album Awake. It is full of room-filling bass and synths that invoke power, passion, frustration, and as the title track confirms, it is more than 'Good Enough'. On 'Here 4 U', Alison teams up with BLESSUS on my personal favorite track of the album, although any of my housemates can tell you I'm a massive fan of the entire thing top-bottom, having purchased the vinyl and I've already spun it 2-3 times in addition to the streams I've racked up.

'Here 4 U' features the electronic voice that the likes of Skrillex and A$AP Rocky have made part of their trademark, over a beat that bangs hard enough to push your mile a whole 30 seconds faster, or maybe push your personal record on the squat a couple pounds higher. It is motivating, it gets the heart racing, and is mixed perfectly. I can not wait to hear more music from Alison, and I'm sure that there will be plenty of mixes of this song and others on her album coming in the near future. Come to Portland Alison, please!
